Every review on this site follows the same method. Here it is, so you can hold us to it.
1. Facts come from the issuer, not other reviews
Annual fees, earn rates, points caps and perks are verified against the issuer’s current product page and PDS at the time of writing – never copied from other comparison sites, which is how five-year-old pricing keeps circulating. Each article shows its “last updated” date.
2. Points are valued honestly, as a range
A point is worth different amounts depending on how you redeem it: roughly 0.5-0.6 cents as gift cards, around 1.2 cents on domestic economy reward flights, 2+ cents on scarce premium-cabin redemptions. We show value as a range and tell you which end you’re realistically on. Single-figure “point values” are how cards get oversold. Full methodology: how much are Qantas Points worth.
3. Earn caps and tapers are modelled
Most Australian rewards cards halve their earn rate above a monthly spend threshold ($3,000-$10,000 depending on the card). Marketing tables ignore this; our break-even tables and the worth-it calculator model it per statement period.
4. The fee has to beat the alternative
A card isn’t “worth it” because it earns something – it’s worth it if it earns more than a no-fee setup after the annual fee. When no card on a page clears that bar for a typical spender, the verdict says so.
5. Verdicts include “don’t”
If you carry a balance month to month, every rewards card on this site is wrong for you – interest at 18-24% p.a. outruns any rewards program. Every review repeats this because it’s the single most expensive mistake in the category.
6. Quarterly re-verification
Card pricing moves. Reviews are re-checked against issuer pages quarterly, and corrected immediately when a reader flags an error at [email protected].
